Our heraldry acts as a badge of honor for each member, and contains significant heraldic symbolism.
COAT OF ARMS
There are two chief variants, a simplified red and white version, and a full-color version.
The most prominent symbol is the Marian Cross; (a Cross atop an M) which brings forth our devotion to Our Lady as the foundation of our devotion to Christ.
The scale present in the top right quadrant of the shield stands in for St. Michael, who is so often pictured with a scale of justice. This also brings to mind the justice of God, not the justice by which He Himself is just, but the justice by which He makes us just, through divinely infused virtues.
7 swords encircle the shield, representing the 7 sorrows of Our Lady. And a reminder that the mortification of the flesh induces great sorrow of soul.
The eye-of-providence, so often co-opted by occult groups, is a truly Catholic symbol which represents the all-seeing eye of the Holy Trinity, rays beaming forth showing His grace and mercy.
Our motto: VINCIT QVI SE VINCIT (He conquers who conquers himself). An exceedingly true maxim from Roman Antiquity, encapsulates the timeless truth of discipline and steadfastness through torment in the midst of spiritual combat. But is contextualized by the eye of providence raining graces down upon it, reminding that God’s preeminent grace is a necessary pre-requisite.
The White background in the full-color variant of course represents purity and chastity.
The Red background in the simplified version, as well as in the accents in the full color version, once again bring to mind the sorrow of Our Lady, the blood of Christ, the blood of the martyrs, and suffering which characterizes spiritual combat.
“Chastity, or cleanness of heart, holds a glorious and distinguished place among the virtues, because she, alone, enables man to see God; hence Truth itself said, ‘Blessed are the clean of heart, for they shall see God.’” —St. Augustine
